His arrogance is undermined somewhat when he sees Otoya recording BRAND NEW MELODY and passing his recording test. He also attempts to give Otoya songwriting advice. He is shown as Otoya's roommate their personalities clearly clash in the episode. Tokiya is 'revealed' to be the twin brother of HAYATO. She believes she's seeing HAYATO, but he quickly interrupts her by informing her that he is Ichinose Tokiya. At the end of the episode, Haruka is led by a mysterious black cat to the gazebo where she first sees Tokiya. His song, Nanairo no Compass, made her wish to be a composer and led her to apply to Saotome. Tokiya is first seen as HAYATO in a flashback where Haruka reveals that he 'saved' her when she was overwhelmed by the noise of the city.
